Lost by emberleo Lost by emberleo
One of my first attempts at watercolor. I really took the water part to heart, lol. Overloaded washes.

I really like the affect it has. It gives me the feeling of a very creepy forest where you could get lost and no one would find you. I really like it no less! it's very pretty ^_^ I hope my first one comes out like that, if I ever get around to buying watercolor  Lovely piece!

If you can paint digitally, you can paint traditionally. It may be a different style, but I'm sure you can do it.:)

oh wow this is amazing

you really captured the feeling of being lost - its a great technical piece, but aside from the awesome skill you put into it, i love how much is actuallys says.

I was actually concerned with putting this piece up, but it's received much more acceptance than I thought it would. I fell that I'm very unskilled with watercolors, but I certainly tried. The problem is any time I try to get a bit messy with my art, I'm insecure. I've always been one to color in the lines, ya know? I'm trying to get over that though. xD

Augh, I hate how everyone seems to master watercolors.
Though, this really is beautiful; I mostly love the green and the dead-tree look. <3

Ya, that's what I mostly love too. And let me tell you, I've yet to master it. I've got the thought in me that I was to do a fantasy piece inspired by stephanie law. I might start today. It's so hard starting such an unfamiliar new genre though...but it should be fun. Watercolors are so nifty. =D

Stephanie Law? I'll have to look into that...
And yes.
Watercolors are very nifty, even if they hate my with a white hot passion! :D

The sense of depth that you've created through the trees is fantastic and both the green haze the dark water really accentuate that.

Incidently, what brushes did you use?

Kolinsky Sable pointed round brush 1210 and a Rapheal squirrel mop brush 803, which is btw a wonderful wash brush. I got them from dickblick. I have some other brushes too but those two are the best and probably the only ones I used on this piece.

Very nice :D I remember my first attempt at watercolour using sythetic brushes, which made a horrible mess ^^;

Oh yes, I knew better due to the professor and the fact that I tend to go for quality over price even though I usually can't afford it.:lmao: The only watercolors I've done thus far were in a watercolor class right before I graduated. Uploading this though really makes me want to get started on a new one today.

:giggle: it took my course leader in Animation to set me straight as well. I ended up using half sable/synth bushes that were better. I know what you mean though, it takes alot of patience but it's got it's rewards.

I'll have to dig out my watercolour stuff :D

Oh, do! I'd love to see. there's nothing better than traditional work.

But ya, I'm all about the sable, camel hair, squirrel hair brushes. And the wash brush is absolutely amazing. You wouldn't believe how soft it is, but it was like 70 dollars or something like that.

Wow, this is fantastic. I've always wanted to paint trees (with eyes in them :D), but I'm terrible at it, so I have a lot of respect for people who can do it, and you've done a beautiful job!

Lol, ya...it's too bad I couldn't get it flat to show the papers frayed edges. I had to crop it so it takes away from the traditional feel.:/
